7 days · Air and road · Arusha, Serengeti, Ngorongoro
Northern Tanzania’s two great sights in one week: three nights in the central Serengeti, then two on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. It suits travellers who want the plains and a half-day among the crater’s lions, rhino and flamingos.
Who it works for
- Physical (wheelchair users and slow walkers): Yes (flights cut the long road, and viewing is from the vehicle)
- Visual (blind and low vision): Yes (close wildlife and guides who describe the crater)
- Hearing (Deaf and hard of hearing): Yes (visual game viewing; written briefs)
- Hidden (autism, fatigue, chronic illness): Yes (two main stops and half-day drives)
Your days
Day 1: Arusha
Met at Kilimanjaro Airport; a night on a coffee plantation.
Days 2–4: Serengeti
Fly to Seronera. Relaxed drives and afternoons on the viewing deck; Day 3 afternoon at rest.
Day 5: To Ngorongoro
A gentle drive across the plains to the crater rim, with game viewing and a break on the way (about 4 hours).
Day 6: The crater floor
A half-day drive inside the crater, then a rest afternoon on the rim.
Day 7: Home
Down to Lake Manyara airstrip (about 1.5 hours) for a short flight to Arusha or Kilimanjaro.

Good to know
- Vehicles: partner 4×4 with pop-up roof; ramp vehicle to confirm. Light aircraft boarding by lift or carried transfer; soft bags, about 15 kg.
- Rooms: Arusha Coffee Lodge, Serengeti Explorer, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge · access profiles to complete. Alternatives: Four Seasons Safari Lodge; Ngorongoro Farm House.
- Equipment and support: wheelchair, shower chair and commode arranged; the rim is high and cold at night, so Accessible Travel Kenya plans warm layers and health needs; 24-hour WhatsApp support.
- Communication and senses: written briefs; guides describe; sign language interpreter on request.
- Pace: two or three nights per stop. The Day 5 drive to the rim is about 4 hours with game stops; Day 7 flies from Lake Manyara instead of the long road back to Kilimanjaro.
- Limits and alternatives: the crater roads are steep and bumpy; the floor has only basic toilets, so the half-day keeps it short.
- New for 2027: The flight out from Lake Manyara on Day 7 is now the standard option.
- Route optimised for 2027: Flight out from Lake Manyara replaces the long drive back to Kilimanjaro. Road time: 9 h road + 1 flight → 6 h road + 2 flights.
