Senior-friendly safaris in Tanzania & the Serengeti

Safari is one of the most rewarding trips you can take in later life, and it does not need to be tiring. We plan Tanzania safaris for seniors with shorter drives, flights between parks where it helps, comfortable lodges with level paths and a guide who sets the pace around you.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Tanzania safari suitable for seniors?

Yes. With the right pacing, flights between parks and comfortable lodges, a Tanzania safari suits travellers in their seventies, eighties and beyond. Most wildlife viewing is done seated in the vehicle.

How can I avoid long, bumpy drives?

We add short scheduled or charter flights into the Serengeti and plan one main drive per day, with rest stops on the way.

Is altitude a concern?

The Ngorongoro Crater rim is at about 2,300 metres. Most guests are fine, but talk to your doctor if you have heart or breathing conditions; we can choose lodges at lower altitude in Karatu.

Can seniors do a hot air balloon safari?

Many seniors fly. Guests need to climb into the basket with assistance; we confirm your needs with the balloon operator before booking.

What about medical support on safari?

We can advise on travel insurance and evacuation cover, store medication, and arrange medical support where needed.
