Who it works for

  • Physical (wheelchair users and slow walkers): Yes (the main falls viewpoints are reached on paths with a pusher, and the river and Chobe days are by vehicle and boat)
  • Visual (blind and low vision): With support (the roar and spray are vivid; guides describe the views)
  • Hearing (Deaf and hard of hearing): Yes (the falls are a visual spectacle; written briefs and an interpreter on request)
  • Hidden (autism, fatigue, chronic illness): Yes (one base for three nights, with a free afternoon)

Your days

Day 1: Arrive

Fly from Nairobi; met at Victoria Falls Airport and driven to your hotel. Rest, then a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

Day 2: Chobe

A day trip into Botswana (about 1.5 hours each way with the border): a river cruise and a game drive in Chobe National Park, back by evening.

Day 3: The falls

A guided tour of the rainforest paths along the edge of the falls, a 15-minute helicopter flight over them and lunch above the Batoka Gorge. Free afternoon.

Day 4: Home

Transfer to the airport.

Where you stay

  • Arrive · The Victoria Falls Hotel, or Pioneers Lodge for a simpler stay · bed and breakfast

As listed or similar, subject to availability and to a measured accessible room.

Best time to go

Weather: June–August for the clearest views; March–May has the biggest flow but spray can hide the falls; October–December is low water. Value: January–June, outside Accessible Travel Kenya’s partner’s high season (1 July–31 December); June gives the best views before it starts.

Good to know

  • Vehicles: partner transfers; Accessible Travel Kenya confirms a ramp or lift vehicle, or a low-step vehicle with assisted transfer, before booking.
  • Rooms: The Victoria Falls Hotel, Pioneers Lodge · access profile to complete. Carer and companion rates; family or adjoining rooms.
  • Equipment and support: meet-and-assist at JKIA for the outbound flight; equipment hire arranged through Accessible Travel Kenya’s partner; 24-hour WhatsApp support from Nairobi.
  • Communication and senses: audio description by guides, written activity briefs, interpreter on request; try-before-you-fly pack.
  • Pace: one base, short drives and a free afternoon. The Chobe day is long, with two border crossings; skip it for a rest day.
  • Limits and alternatives: the helicopter needs a transfer into the seat, and some falls viewpoints have uneven or wet ground. Visas for Zimbabwe and Botswana are extra.
  • New for 2027: a free afternoon after the falls, and a confirmed accessible transfer vehicle before booking.
  • Route optimised for 2027: Chobe day moved earlier so the falls and the helicopter flight close the trip. Road time: 3 h road → 3 h road.
